Public Speaking

 

Approximately 21 questions will be about public speaking. Examinees should study on the basic concepts of public speaking such as its purposes, types and forms, strategies for organizing content, style and use of language during speaking, effects of culture on public speaking and others.

 

Media and Their Influences

 

Some topics that are included in the questions are about critical analysis and evaluation of media forms, influence on audiences, production techniques, types of media and media response to race, gender, and class issues. This is 13% of the entire praxis 2 exam.

 

Oral Interpretation and Performance Studies

 

Eleven percent of the exam will be questions related to literary principles and aesthetics, characteristics of analysis, principles of acting and performance techniques, dramatic theory and criticism and the like.

 

Forensics: Competitive Speech and Debate

 

Like the previous area, this also counts 11% of the exam questions. Examinees are to review on topics about writing and performing individual events, effective program management, and argumentation and debate.

 

Assessment and Evaluation Issues

 

The remaining 10% of the questions will be about the assessment techniques for oral performance, test construction and alternate forms of communication assessment, curriculum development and most importantly, teacher’s responsibilities during assessment and evaluation of the performance.
