Depending upon their state’s requirements, many middle and high school physics teaching candidates will be required to take and pass the PRAXIS II Physics: Content Essays Exam.
This one-hour test is comprised of three essay questions regarding the following general topics: society, technology and science; waves and fields; and energy and matter. These three questions on the PRAXIS II Physics: Content Essays Exam are equally weighted.
To prepare, test takers should, of course, review these general areas: energy and matter; waves and fields; and the interrelationship of science, technology, and society, as indicated above. As students review for the PRAXIS II Physics: Content Essays Exam, they should also focus the following:
● thermodynamics,
● waves and optics,
● magnetism,
● energy conservation,
● electricity and physical laws,
● matter and energy, and
● fields.
In order to successfully take the PRAXIS II Physics: Content Essays Exam, test takers should also consider the field of physic’s contributions to society and to technology as well as the impact of society upon technology and science.

Those who are interested in teaching middle or high school physics may be required by their licensing state to pass the PRAXIS II Physics: Content Knowledge (0265) before receiving a valid teacher’s license. |
